Watercolor By Kathy ...
In 1986, I taught myself to watercolor. The discovery of this medium continues to be a positive force in my life. Admittedly, watercolor can be an unforgiving medium, but if you like a challenge with exciting results, then watercolor is for you. There are many techniques that help the artist manipulate the paint on the paper.
I paint any subject matter, but for the last ten years, I have challenged myself in the use of watercolor for painting people and pet portraits. My focus is to build my portfolio and hone my skills. Currently, I participate in workshops for drawing and painting the human figure, with particular emphasis on portraits.
My use of bold color is often contrary to the way people imagine a watercolor painting. Bright and vivid color is how I view the world and it shows in my paintings. I paint almost exclusively using the transparent watercolor method, which results in more luminosity and life to the painting.
Most recently, I have added painting with acrylics to my repertoire. Some of my acrylic paintings are now in my website gallery.
